Ahh! I'm playing Maria in our play, and it's so much fun! I'm so excited.

This movie was probably filmed in 1960(released in 1961) which makes it a half century old now. Still, today all the lead actors are alive and well. Except, of course, for the wonderful Natalie Wood.

what i think is most fascinating about this song is that they wrote it for the movie. the original song in this place was One Hand, One Heart, but they thought that was more matrimonial for this scene. so they took Tony and Maria's part in Tonight (Ensamble) or the Quintet song, and wrote the song from that.

Just a bit of WSS trvia: The song "Tonight" was written only for the Quintet. One Hand, One Heart, was the "balcony" scene song. It was the idea of (the second) director, Robert Wise, to insert "Tonight," into this scene; stated by screenwriter, Ernest Lehman, on WSS memories.
